Brief Biography:
Dr. Sunil Kumar Joshi is a medical doctor (MD) specializing in Occupational Medicine, Diabetology, and Ph.D. in Public Health. Dr. Sunil Kumar Joshi has received Swedish Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship at the European Centre of Gender Excellence, Thematic Gender Studies Department of the Linkoping University, Sweden.
Currently, Dr. Joshi is working as Professor and Head at the Department of Community Medicine, Kathmandu Medical College (KMC), Kathmandu University, Nepal, where he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate medical students. He has supervised graduate and postgraduate students from different foreign universities such as the University of Tokyo, Japan, Norwegian University of Science & Technology, Norway, Linkoping University, Sweden; University of Oslo, Norway; Stony Brook School of Medicine, USA and Yale University, USA.
He has been involved in injuries, violence, and disabilities prevention activities in Nepal since 2006 as a National Consultant for the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health and Population.
He has drafted the National Policies and Strategies for preventing and controlling violence, injuries, and disabilities for the Government of Nepal. He serves as a member of several national and international scientific committees. He has authored more than 100 scientific publications and was appointed as Chief Editor and Editor for numerous international peer-reviewed scientific journals. He is a recipient of many National and International prestigious health research grants.
He is also working as the Chairperson of the Institutional Review Committee (IRC) at Kathmandu Medical College.
